✨ Year 4 Victorian Workhouse! ✨

Year 4 stepped back in time on Friday for a hands‑on Victorian workhouse experience. Pupils tried their hand at sorting buttons, untying ropes, scrubbing surfaces, and even tasting a little “gruel” to see what workhouse life might have been like. There were plenty of smiles and lots of enthusiasm as everyone threw themselves into the activities.
Alongside the fun, we also spent time talking about the real conditions Victorian children faced. Their days were long, harsh, and exhausting, and they certainly wouldn’t have enjoyed these tasks the way we did. It was a brilliant way to learn, reflect, and appreciate how different life is for children today.
A fantastic afternoon of history brought to life for Year 4! ✨
